"Cancer is the best thing that has ever happened to me."
At only fourteen years old, Eloise began her long, excruciating journey with cancer. After coming down with what was thought to be the flu while on a teen adventure trip in Hawaii, life quickly took a turn for the worse when series of tests, surgery and endless hospital visits began to uncover a more serious medical condition. Then, within only two weeks of returning home from Hawaii, Eloise was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma – cancer of the lymphatic system. Today, Eloise is a healthy and happy cancer survivor studying in her third year of the Commerce Program at Queen’s University!
While in treatment, Eloise’s cousin created #WeezyWillWin – inspired by her childhood nickname, Weeze/Weezy. #WeezyWillWin became the foundation of Eloise’s fight and maintains a constant remainder of Eloise’s strength and courage while battling cancer.
As one of our co-founders, we felt there was no better way to kick of Fight Club than by telling the inspiring story behind our blog. Continue reading below for more on Eloise’s fight with cancer!
Hi everyone!
I am Chloe, co-founder of Fight Club, and more importantly, Eloise’s best friend! After meeting during our first week of University, Eloise and I instantly clicked. Ever since meeting Eloise, I have been inspired by her story and her passion for serving the pediatric oncology community. I believe there is something valuable that resides within Eloise’s story for everyone; the way she has confronted adversity is something we all can learn from and relate to – no matter the capacity.
